South Carolina fans storm the court in epic fashion after historic win over Kentucky

South Carolina earned a dominant upset win over Kentucky on Tuesday night in Columbia.
The Gamecocks won 79-62 against a Wildcats team that entered the night ranked as the No. 6 team in the country. This was South Carolina’s second straight win over the Wildcats. It’s the first time the Gamecocks have won back-to-back meetings vs. UK since they won 3 in a row in 2009-10.
To celebrate the victory, South Carolina fans stormed the court at the final buzzer.

Ta’Lon Cooper led South Carolina with 20 points in the win. Meechie Johnson and Jacobi Wright each chipped in 14 points as well. Defensively, the Gamecocks held UK to just 40% shooting from the floor.
As for South Carolina, this was its most-lopsided win over a top-10 team in program history.

South Carolina is now 16-3 overall and 4-2 in SEC play. The Gamecocks are much improved over last season when they struggled to compete in the SEC under first-year coach Lamont Paris. South Carolina has already matched last season’s win total against SEC opponents.
South Carolina will be in action again on Saturday at home against Missouri.
