It’s been quite the journey but ultimately 3-star defensive tackle Isaac Washington (Pilot Mountain, N.C.) decided to sign with Tennessee on Friday.

The 6-foot-3, 268-pound Washington first committed to Tennessee in late January but de-committed when defensive line coach Tracy Rocker left the program. Washington re-committed to Tennessee after visiting in March with defensive line coach Jimmy Brumbaugh.

Brumbaugh ended up being fired in October but Washington decided to not waiver in his decision. Brumbaugh kept his faith in Tennessee coach Jeremy Pruitt, who presented a clear vision for his future.

“I mean, I was on the phone with Pruitt earlier, and what he told me made me realize that everything was good,” Washington said in October via 247Sports.

Washington is the No. 41 defensive tackle and the No. 37 senior from North Carolina, according to 247Sports. Washington is slated to join the program next month as an early enrollee.

Tennessee’s 2021 class is ranked sixth nationally and sixth in the SEC, according to 247Sports.
