The Tennessee Volunteers are coming off a massive upset win over the Alabama Crimson Tide in Week 7, a game that took place in front of a sold-out Neyland Stadium crowd on Rocky Top.
As with any home game in Knoxville, the fans in attendance were absolutely electric from the opening kickoff until the final whistle blew. Over 101,000 ravid Tennessee fans made life miserable for Kalen DeBoer and the rest of the Tide for 4 quarters.
The home fans were so loud, in fact, that they actually set a new record for the loudest verified “crowd peak” in college football history, with the volume inside Neyland reaching an ear-popping 130.3 decibels.

Per a post on the official Tennessee football X account, the record was set on a pivotal third-down play late in the fourth quarter, with the Tide on offense trying to drive downfield and within one score of the Vols.
The Tennessee defense got a massive sack on the previous second-down play, and the fans got so loud that Alabama quarterback Keelon Russell couldn’t get the snap off in time, resulting in a delay-of-game penalty.
Rocky Top has always been known for the hostile environment the fans create for opposing teams, and this latest record-setting performance is another feather in the cap of Volunteer Nation.
