Tennessee trolls Alabama with ‘Dixieland Delight’ over Neyland Stadium PA after win over Crimson Tide
To the victor, go the spoils. When the win comes in a rivalry affair, the team that comes out on top usually has some fun with things. The Tennessee Volunteers did just that after beating the Alabama Crimson Tide on Saturday.
Following their 26-10 triumph, the Vols’ PA system blasted “Dixieland Delight” on its speakers. The infamous song, by the band Alabama, is notoriously contested by the two schools’ fanbases.

“Dixieland Delight” was written by Ronnie Rogers, a Nashville native. The song features the lyrics “rolling down a backwoods Tennessee byway” and “on a Tennessee Saturday night,” giving credence to claims it’s about the Volunteer State. However, its performing band gives the Crimson Tide plenty of reason to play it at Bryant-Denny Stadium, which it frequently does.
Saturday night, Tennessee earned the ability to play it behind an incredible defensive effort. The Vols dominated Alabama’s offensive line, creating five sacks and 10 tackles for loss. Tennessee also forced four Crimson Tide turnovers and limited Keelon Russell and Co. to a paltry 201 total yards.
The Volunteers’ victory was their third straight home win over Alabama, something the program hadn’t accomplished in the 21st century. Tennessee battles South Carolina on the road in Week 8.
