Tennessee unveils new field design for Neyland Legacy game vs. Auburn
Tennessee is honoring General Robert Neyland in a variety of ways this weekend as the Vols host Auburn in a highly-anticipated SEC matchup.
The Vols previously announced they’ll be donning Smoky Grey alternate uniforms and a special General Neyland patch on their jerseys this weekend. Now, they’ve unveiled a special field design for the weekend as well.
The 50-yard line will feature a rarely-used Tennessee logo that’s highlighted by an interlocking U and T. A press release from Tennessee states that the interlocking UT comes from a 1952 photo of Neyland.

Tennessee is honoring the 100th anniversary of Neyland’s first season as Tennessee’s head football coach. He first took over the Vols’ program in 1926, leading them to an 8-1 campaign in his first year at the helm.
Neyland went on to coach Tennessee football until 1952. He remains Tennessee’s winningest coach in program history with 172 career victories. The only other Tennessee coaches to even reach 60 wins in a tenure are Phillip Fulmer and Johnny Majors.
Tennessee and Auburn will kick off at 3:30 p.m. ET on Saturday afternoon.
