Texas scores 21 unanswered points to complete epic comeback vs. Ohio State

Ohio State and Texas delivered a ‘Game of the Year’ candidate on Saturday night in Austin.
The Longhorns ultimately prevailed, coming all the way back from a 23-3 deficit after 3 quarters. Hollywood Smothers scored the go-ahead touchdown with just seconds remaining on the game clock to give the Longhorns the 24-23 win.
Texas’s offense struggled for much of the night. In the first half, miscues from Raleek Brown, Cam Coleman and Ryan Wingo resulted in a variety of consequences ranging from turnovers to dropped touchdowns.
Arch Manning wasn’t particularly efficient for much of the night either, but he led 3 touchdown drives in the fourth quarter to give Texas what is perhaps its best win of the Steve Sarkisian era.
The Texas defense was dominant all night long, particularly in the second half. Ohio State was limited to just 3 points after halftime and the Buckeyes went just 6-of-14 on third down.
Jeremiah Smith had 8 catches for 164 yards, but Ohio State accomplished little else in the passing game.
With this win, Texas will now be a candidate to jump to No. 1 in the updated AP Top 25 rankings this week. The Longhorns are also now a leading contender for the national championship.
