Texas Tech board chair Cody Campbell has been a vital and vocal part of Texas Tech becoming a contender in the Big 12 and the College Football Playoff the last couple of seasons.
The Red Raiders have become one of the biggest spenders in the transfer portal, and despite the loss to Cincinnati last week, are once again right there in the thick of things. Despite the loss, Campbell has a ton of support in the job that coach Joey McGuire is doing in Lubbock.
“He isn’t going anywhere. If anything, we are ready, willing, and able to double down on him,” Campbell said. “Absolutely nothing is going to change at the head coach position at Texas Tech.”

During his time as the coach at Texas Tech, McGuire is 41-19, including 18-3 in his last 21 games. The Red Raiders will look to get back on track on Saturday when they host the Arizona Wildcats in a huge game in the Big 12 and the CFP. Both teams enter the game with a 6-1 record on the season, including a 3-1 record in the Big 12. Utah is undefeated in Big 12 play, while the Red Raiders and Wildcats are in a four-way tie for second in the Big 12.
While he has Campbell’s support right now, a win against Arizona would go a ways in making sure that Campbell is still supporting McGuire.
