Texas two-step: Longhorns turn the ball over twice on first 5 plays vs. Ohio State

The Texas Longhorns‘ offense got the ball to start Saturday’s heavyweight tussle vs. the Ohio State Buckeyes. Ideally, Arch Manning and Co. would have driven down the field and put up points. Instead, the unit coughed up possession not once, but twice.
Following the opening kickoff, Texas threw a swing pass to running back Raleek Brown. True freshman cornerback Jay Timmons drove Longhorn wideout Emmett Mosley into Brown shortly after the catch, which caused Brown to fumble.
Timmons then found the ball and recovered it to give Ohio State possession deep in Longhorn territory.

Texas’ defense stood tall and held the Buckeyes to a field goal on the ensuing drive, allowing the offense to return to the field down just 3-0. The Longhorns picked up a first down after three straight runs, then took to the air again on 1st-and-10 from their 38-yard line.
Manning found Cam Coleman wide-open downfield, but led him just a shade too far. Coleman dove to make the catch and lost the ball while trying to secure possession. It sprung off his chest, right into the arms of Jaylen McClain for a tough-luck interception.
This go-round, Ohio State fully capitalized on the turnover. Julian Sayin and Jeremiah Smith hooked up three times on the Buckeyes’ next drive, which ended with an 8-yard touchdown run from Ja’Kobi Jackson.
Texas punted on its third possession, giving Ohio State an opportunity to take a 3-score first-half lead. You can watch the Buckeyes and Longhorns on ABC.
