The Texas Longhorns believe they gave themselves some wiggle room in the College Football Playoff hunt with their victory vs. the Ole Miss Rebels. Any goodwill they earned with that triumph will wash away, though, if they slip up against the Kamario Taylor-less Mississippi State Bulldogs.

Texas (5-2, 2-2 SEC) must beat Mississippi State (4-3, 2-3 SEC) this weekend. It’s not optional. Fortunately, two of the Longhorns’ best players are on the mend. According to the SEC’s initial availability report, wide receiver Cam Coleman is probable for Saturday’s game. Additionally, edge rusher Colin Simmons is questionable.

Coleman left Texas’ win over Ole Miss with a shoulder injury. Some of the Auburn transfer’s drops stick out more than his production does, but he leads the Longhorns in receiving touchdowns (6) and is a huge big-play threat. He and Ryan Wingo form a dynamic wide receiver tandem for Arch Manning.

Simmons, head coach Steve Sarkisian‘s biggest defensive star, is recovering from a high ankle sprain suffered against Florida. The usual recovery timeline for such an ailment is 4-to-6 weeks, but Simmons’ condition has apparently improved enough to be deemed questionable for the contest.

Mississippi State and Texas face off under the lights in Austin on Saturday night (7:30 p.m. ET, ABC).
