Austin Simmons and the No. 13 Missouri Tigers will take on Trinidad Chambliss and the No. 9 Ole Miss Rebels in The Grove this weekend in what will likely be their biggest challenge of the 2026 campaign thus far.
The quarterbacks in this showdown represent 2 of the best gunslingers college football has to offer, and Simmons in particular has been one of the more unsung heroes so far this year despite his elite production.
Former Heisman winner and current SEC Nation host Tim Tebow has had his eye on Simmons all season, and he offered high praise for the Tigers’ signal caller on Saturday morning.
“His anticipation and getting rid of this thing (the ball) is the best in the country,” Tebow said. “He is playing at such an elite level, and I love it because it’s not just on easy first and second downs. It’s third downs.”
Anytime you can get one of the greatest quarterbacks in college football history to talk about you in such glowing terms, you have to be doing something right, and that’s exactly what Simmons has been doing through the first 6 weeks of the season.
If he can lead Mizzou to victory on the road against the Rebels, then the rest of the country might also start recognizing just how elite a passer he truly is.
