Top Florida recruits refuse to talk about Jim McElwain’s job status

It’s no secret that Jim McElwain’s tenure in Gainesville is on thin ice, as word could come down as soon as Sunday that the Florida coach has been fired.
However, Florida’s top recruits are staying out of the spotlight as the drama plays out with the Gators.
In fact, many of the Gators’ top commits, including 2018 QB Matt Corral, WR Jacob Copeland and S Randy Russell, have all said they won’t be commenting on McElwain’s job status:

Don't text my phone or hit my DMs for no interview. ?

Even 2019 commit Jaleel McRae is staying out of the mix, responding to Copeland’s tweet:

It will be interesting to see if the Gators can keep their highly rated classes together if McElwain gets canned, but for now, the players are staying quiet about the rumors.
Based on the mess that is occurring in Gainesville right now, it’s probably for the best that the top commits aren’t drawing attention to themselves.
