The SEC is loaded with freshmen who were stud recruits and other underclassmen who could leave early for the NFL, but here at Saturday Down South we don’t want to overlook the talented seniors who stuck around for a fourth season and are excelling for their teams. Here are five of the top performances from seniors during the 10th week of the SEC football season.
BRANDON ALLEN
The Arkansas quarterback has had a surprisingly good season, even as the Razorbacks got off to a bad start. He had the game of his career Saturday in Arkansas’ upset of Ole Miss. Allen completed 33 of 45 passes for 442 yards and 6 touchdowns without an interception as the Razorbacks pulled out the win in overtime. He also had a nice 22-yard run.
DAK PRESCOTT
So much has happened involving both programs since Mississippi State played Missouri on Thursday night that it’s easy to forget just how fantastic Prescott was in the Bulldogs’ victory. Prescott completed 27 of 40 passes for 303 yards and 4 touchdowns. He also rushed 14 times for 47 yards. He also reached the 10,000-yard and 100-touchdown marks for his MSU career.
TYLER HUNT
They are looking for any kind of silver linings at Missouri this week, and the play of backup running back Tyler Hunt is one. He carried the ball 6 times for 85 yards and had 1 catch for 35 yards. As putrid as Missouri’s offense has been this season, and the running game in particular, any signs of life are greeted with great enthusiasm. The big question might be why Hunt hadn’t gotten more carries before.
LANDON FOSTER
Not many Kentucky players had games they could brag about Saturday in a blowout loss at Georgia, but senior punter Landon Foster did just fine. Foster booted the ball 7 times for an average of 42.3 yards with a long of 53. His ability to help the Wildcats manage field position was one of the few things that kept the score from being worse.
KENTRELL BROTHERS
If it seems like Brothers is a weekly fixture here despite Missouri’s troubles, it’s because he’s racking up unfathomable numbers of tackles each week. This week, he had a team-high 14 while also forcing a fumble and blocking a kick. It’s scary to think what the Tigers might be like without him.
