Transfer portal Georgia DB Divaad Wilson visits Florida campus

Five days after announcing his plans to transfer from Georgia, defensive back Divaad Wilson visited one of UGA’s biggest rivals.
On Saturday, Wilson’s Instagram story included posts from Florida campus. The Miami native has a history with the Gators.
As a 4-star, class of 2018 prospect, Wilson committed to the Jim McElwain staff on Feb. 4, 2017. After McElwain was fired during the 2017 season, Wilson made it publicly known he would not be signing with Florida if defensive coordinator Randy Shannon was not retained.
After Dan Mullen opted for Todd Grantham as defensive coordinator, Wilson decommitted from Florida and eventually signed with Georgia. This week, he provided an update on his transfer stating he would be continuing his college football career in the state of Florida.
“I Would Appreciate It If You Guys Kould Stop Hitting Me Up, I’m Staying in the state of FLORIDA for my next home,” Wilson tweeted Wednesday.
Brenton Cox, one of Wilson’s former Georgia teammates, made the UGA to UF transfer roughly a year ago. With Wilson’s connection to Shannon and fellow former UF assistant Corey Bell on the UCF staff, the Knights are considered a contender to land the departing Bulldog.
Wilson appeared in 13 games for the Bulldogs last season, including starts against Notre Dame and Kentucky. He leaves Georgia as a redshirt sophomore with 28 tackles, an interception, 2 passes defended and a tackle for loss.
