Two key Florida players currently ‘questionable’ for road game at No. 25 Mizzou
The Florida Gators (4-0, 2-0 SEC) have scored 214 points in four games this season. Their fans are hoping their prolific offense can lead them to another win against the No. 25 Missouri Tigers in Week 5. But at this moment, quarterback Aaron Philo could be down a pair of big weapons for the game.
Late Wednesday night, Florida released its first availability report for the Mizzou contest. Two wide receivers — Vernel Brown III and Bailey Stockton — are listed as questionable for the matchup.
Brown, a sophomore receiver from Gainesville, leads the Gators in receptions (17), yards (271). He’s also tied with Dallas Wilson for the most touchdown grabs on the roster (2). Stockton, a senior out of Bogart, GA, is third on the team in catches (13), behind Brown and Wilson (14).
If Brown and/or Stockton sit out on Saturday, Wilson would be a primary target alongide Eric Singleton Jr. The Auburn transfer is off the injury report after missing most of the season opener and all of Weeks 2 and 3 due to injury. Singleton played in the win over Ole Miss, but in a limited role.
Tight ends Luke Harpring and Amir Jackson, as well as wide receiver TJ Abrams, would be expected to take on increased roles in the passing game. Every man in the receiving corps, though, will likely continue to play second fiddle to running back Jaden Baugh in Buster Faulkner’s offense.
Florida and Missouri kick off at 3:30 p.m. ET on Saturday (ABC).
