Tennessee coach Butch Jones is known for wanting to give everything a nickname or a catch phrase.
So it’s no surprise that the man that brought you “brick by brick” would also bring you “Competition Saturday”, which as best we can tell, was simply a spring practice held at Neyland Stadium that included some scrimmage elements.

It appears as though the entirety of the scrimmage may not have been open to the media.
Here are some things we know about the scrimmage:
- According to Wes Rucker, walk-on running back Jayson Sparks had a 25-yard touchdown run against a Vols defense that had many of its starters on the field.
- Rucker also reports that TE Ethan Wolf and C Coleman Thomas sat out due to minor injuries.
- RBs Jalen Hurd and Alvin Kamara were limited to just a handful of snaps, according to Patrick Brown.
- Brown reports that walk-on receiver Michael Lacey made the best play in 11-on-11 work, hanging on to a pass after a big hit from Rashaan Gaulden.
- John Brice reports that No. 2 QB Quinten Dormady has put on 20 pounds of weight.
- Daniel Lewis reports that WR Josh Smith turned in a strong performance, building upon what has been reported to be a solid spring.
