Volunteers excited to face Kentucky, the SEC standard, again

The Tennessee Volunteers entered the SEC Tournament in St. Louis having already claimed a share of the regular-season title for the 2017-18 campaign. Following an 84-66 win over Arkansas Saturday, the Vols have advanced to the tournament final Sunday.
While some might assume that Tennessee would like to settle things with Auburn, the other team to claim a share of the regular-season title, UT forward Admiral Schofield says that the Vols are excited to be facing Kentucky and wouldn’t want it any other way.
“Kentucky is the standard in this league and across the country, really,” Schofield told GoVols247’s Wes Rucker. “If you want to be the best, you have to beat Kentucky. I can’t think of a better team to play for the SEC (Tournament) championship. I mean that with respect.”
Few would argue with Schofield. When it comes to dominance on the hardwood in the SEC, most people think of the Wildcats. This season, however, Schofield and the Vols got the best of the Cats in two meetings. UT won 76-65 on Jan. 6 and 61-59 on Feb. 8.
Tipoff is set for 1 p.m. ET on Sunday on ESPN.
