Earlier this year, Indianapolis Colts LB Edwin Jackson was killed by a drunk driver in Indiana, bringing a tragic end to his 26 years on Earth.

On Saturday, the former Georgia Southern linebacker was honored by his alma mater in a touching ceremony, receiving his degree posthumously with his parents in attendance.

In the emotional video below, shared by Georgia Southern on Twitter, Jackson’s father leads the students in a cheer, crying out “Georgia!” with the crowd responding “Southern!” as he exits the stage:

Jackson’s parents have understandably been through a lot the past few months, but for his father to do that, it shows how much Georgia Southern meant to Jackson and his family.

It’s sad that Jackson wasn’t there to receive his degree himself, but this was a great moment for the Georgia Southern family.
