WATCH: North Carolina player drills ref in the face with a football

When you’re on a football field, even after the play is over, it’s probably best to keep your head on a swivel.
With 22 players and a crew of referees on the field at any given time, there’s a lot of nonstop action going on.
One referee in the Miami-North Carolina game found that out the hard way.
As you can see in the video shared by @RivalsWoody below, you can see the referee get drilled in the face by a football following a play:

The North Carolina player certainly didn’t mean to hit the ref, and you can see him appear to apologize afterwards.
However, the ref wasn’t looking, so the player’s toss ended up hitting him right in the face, creating the funny moment.
Nearing halftime, North Carolina leads Miami 6-0, so the Hurricanes probably don’t think many things are too funny at the moment.
