No player for the Crimson Tide has benefited more from the coaching staff’s addition of Lane Kiffin than junior playmaker Amari Cooper this season, Alabama’s top receiver and the nation’s leader in yards and catches.
For his efforts, Cooper has earned SDS’ Week 2 Blue-Collar offensive player of the week in the SEC.

On Saturday against Florida Atlanta, Cooper tied a school record with 13 receptions including one that went for 52 yards and a touchdown in the first quarter. Sprung by a picture-perfect block on a defensive back by Christion Jones, Cooper showcased his 4.4 speed down the FAU sideline seven minutes into the game when he took a screen pass the distance.
The Owls never found an answer for Cooper on the outside or across the middle. He’s on his way toward another 1,000-yard season and fits the mold of an elite Kiffin-coached wideout.
