Former Auburn star Chuma Okeke tore his ACL against North Carolina in this year’s NCAA Tournament, but that didn’t stop him from being a first-round pick.
During the 2019 NBA Draft from Brooklyn on Thursday night, the Orlando Magic picked the talented forward with the No. 16 overall selection.
After he was chosen by the Magic, Okeke said he knew the Magic had some interest, but added that he is thrilled they took a chance on him as high as No. 16 overall:
"… I'm injured and stuff. So they took a chance, and I'm just happy for that."

Okeke might have to sit out the entire 2019-20 season as he rehabs his ACL injury, so we’ll see how the Magic handle his recovery.
Still, there’s no denying his talent, and he likely would have been a lottery pick if his injury never happened.
