Eli Drinkwitz and Missouri’s hot start to the season continued Saturday as the Tigers picked up a dominant win over South Carolina.
The defense showed up and held the Gamecocks’ offense to less than 300 offensive yards, and it was the Tigers’ ground game that pushed the offense to a win.
After the game, Drinkwitz had high praise for his team’s all around effort.
“I’m really just proud of our team,” Drinkwitz said. “Our defense really did what we asked them to do which was rattle (Spencer) Rattler. They got after him all game, we held them to field goals. And then offensively started fast. It’s always good to win a trophy.”
Running back Cody Schrader had a huge game with 159 rushing yards and a pair of touchdowns.
“I mean he is an absolute stud,” Drinkwitz said. “It just means so much to him to be a Tiger. Have no idea what his stats are, but I know he helped us win. Tomorrow looks like it’s going to be off, that’s all I’m worried about right guy. These guys deserve a day off.”
The Tigers get a much needed bye week next week before taking on Georgia. After a pair of dominant wins, Missouri will go into the game with confidence and momentum.
