Shane Beamer and South Carolina played Jacksonville State a little closer than they would have liked to Saturday, but ultimately came up with a win after a few clutch plays.
Beamer knows his team should have been better, but he’s still excited that his team managed to snap a 4-game losing streak.
“We were not good enough today but we’re going to celebrate the heck out of this one,” Beamer said in his postgame press conference.
Beamer made light of the many mistakes South Carolina made on Saturday, cracking a joke at his team’s expense.

Beamer didn’t hesitate to give Jacksonville State credit. The Gamecocks have put together a solid season, winning 7 games so far this season.

Beamer gave credit to Stone Blanton, who made the game-saving pick-6 to give South Carolina a 10-point lead in the final minutes.
“Blanton made an instinctive play on the pick six, he was in the right place and made a good read,” Beamer said.
During his press conference, Beamer made note of a funny coincidence in the Gamecock vs. Gamecock battle.

Now South Carolina is preparing for its final 3 games against Vanderbilt, Kentucky and Clemson. At the end of his press conference, Beamer commented on one of his future opponents wins on Saturday.
“Clemson win? They did?” Beamer said. “Wow.”
