The SECโ€™s Week 2 is in the books, and the conference had a monster weekend.

Newcomer Texas went to the Big House and dominated the defending champion Michigan Wolverines, while Tennessee throttled NC State in a battle of ranked teams.

With the College Football Playoff expanding to 12 teams, there is a chance for at least four teams to make the SEC

ESPN released their SP+ rankings Sunday afternoon, and it featured 6 SEC teams in the top 10. Below is how ESPN describes the SP+ rankings on its website for those who arenโ€™t familiar.

What is SP+? In a single sentence, itโ€™s a tempo- and opponent-adjusted measure of college football efficiency. I created the system at Football Outsiders in 2008, and as my experience with both college football and its stats has grown, I have made quite a few tweaks to the system.

SP+ is intended to be predictive and forward-facing. That is important to remember. It is not a rรฉsumรฉ ranking that gives credit for big wins or particularly brave scheduling โ€” no good predictive system is. It is simply a measure of the most sustainable and predictable aspects of football. If youโ€™re lucky or unimpressive in a win, your rating will probably fall. If youโ€™re strong and unlucky in a loss, it will probably rise.

Hereโ€™s where every SEC program ranks:

1. Georgia
3. Alabama
4. Texas
5. Ole Miss
6. Tennessee
7. Missouri
17. LSU
19. Oklahoma
20. Texas A&M
23. Auburn
31. Florida
32. South Carolina
35. Arkansas
40. Kentucky
51. Mississippi State
72. Vanderbilt
