Dixieland Delight is sticking around, at least for another week.

Athletics Director Greg Byrne earlier this week announced the return of “Dixieland Delight” in the fourth quarter at Bryant-Denny Stadium, a celebrated tradition that went away when some fans added vulgar words to the classic song by legendary country band Alabama.

Byrne said it was something he heard since the first day he got to Alabama. But before he brought it back, Byrne said he wanted to get support from other administrators including school president Stuart Bell. Then student leadership.

Finally, Byrne admitted that players on the team had made the request as recently as when the team landed in Arkansas. He said at that time he already knew they would be bringing it back starting with the Missouri game.

But after a successful rendition Saturday against Missouri, Byrne told Marq Burnett that he would be back.
