Worst day of the season for Georgia may be getting worse: Mark Richt, Miami crushing Notre Dame

The No. 1 Georgia Bulldogs got destroyed by the No. 10 Auburn Tigers on Saturday, but they still own an impressive Week 2 victory over Notre Dame in South Bend.
However, that win might lose a little luster after Saturday night, as the No. 3 Fighting Irish are getting owned by former Georgia coach Mark Richt and the No. 7 Miami Hurricanes in South Beach.
The ‘Canes went ahead 14-0 in the first quarter, thanks to a touchdown pass by QB Malik Rozier and a rushing touchdown, also by Rozier. Meanwhile, Miami’s defense shut down the Irish in the first half, holding Heisman Trophy candidate Josh Adams to a disappointing yardage total.
By halftime, the Hurricanes had a commanding 20-0 lead at home. With No. 1 Georgia going down and No. 2 Alabama struggling on the road at Mississippi State (through three quarters), it wouldn’t be surprising to see a one-loss Clemson team jump to No. 1 next week in the College Football Playoff rankings.
The CFP committee is going to have a lot to talk about this week, and if Notre Dame doesn’t turn things around soon, the Irish could find themselves all but eliminated from final four contention.
