Yante Maten on potential NIT berth: ‘As long as I get to wear a Georgia shirt, I’m good with it’

The Georgia Bulldogs lost to the Kentucky Wildcats on Friday afternoon in the SEC Tournament quarterfinals, potentially ending their season.
However, the Dawgs still have a shot to land an NIT berth, which would allow Georgia fans to continue to watch SEC player of the year Yante Maten in action.
And, fortunately for them, Maten seems like he’d welcome the opportunity to close his Georgia career in the NIT. As you can see below, he said any chance he gets to wear a Georgia jersey is a good one:
If Georgia fans need another reason to respect Yante Maten, check his response when asked about the NIT: "I love playing for my school. So as
long as I get to wear a Georgia shirt, I'm good with it."— Anthony Dasher (@AnthonyDasher1) March 9, 2018
Georgia should be among the 32 teams invited to the NIT, but if the Bulldogs fire coach Mark Fox, as expected, they might not accept the invitation.
However, since it would allow Maten’s incredible career to continue, perhaps they should give it a long look.
