Ray Lewis provided Za’Darius Smith the perfect motivational tool leading up to Smith’s game with the Green Bay Packers against the Dallas Cowboys.
On Showtime recently, Lewis discussed the Packers’ front seven and said, “they don’t have that dictator no more.”
Smith initially tweeted “Wow” in response to the comments, but it obviously was on his mind all weekend as he immediately jumped up to perform Lewis’ sack dance after Smith sacked Dallas QB Dak Prescott.
Smith is in his fifth NFL season and first with Green Bay following a March free agent signing, after he previously played for the Baltimore Ravens. He had three sacks and 11 tackles this season entering Sunday, and with his play against Dallas, he’s nearly halfway to last year’s sack total of 8.5.
Last season, Smith appeared in all 16 games with a career-high eight starts and posted a career-best 45 tackles (26 solo) and a career-high and team-leading sack total for a Baltimore defense that finished No. 1 in the NFL in overall defense and No. 2 in scoring defense.
Ray Lewis: Packers have “real issue” on defense with no “dictator” in the front seven.
