Cameron Carr left Tennessee to finish his college career, but he’s excited about reuniting with one of his former Volunteer teammates in the NBA.

The Los Angeles Lakers selected Carr with the No. 24 pick in the first round of the 2026 NBA Draft. Speaking with LA media, Carr shared his excitement about being Dalton Knecht’s teammate again.

Knecht had just 1 season on Rocky Top, joining Rick Barnes’ squad for the 2023-24 campaign after beginning his college basketball career at Northeastern JC in 2019 and then transferring to Northern Colorado, where he played 2021-23.

Carr was a freshman in 2023-24 when Knecht led the Vols to the Elite Eight. That season, Carr made 14 appearances for Tennessee, including 2 NCAA Tournament games.

The following season, Carr suffered an early-season injury in November and then abruptly left the team for the transfer portal in December, electing to redshirt for 2024-25. He transferred to Baylor to continue his career.

At Baylor, Carr was a 34-game starter, averaging 18.9 points, 5.8 rebounds, 2.6 assists and 1.3 blocks per game.
