Brady Cook had to be carted off the field during the New York Jets’ practice on Tuesday morning, but head coach Aaron Glenn told reporters that the former Missouri star quarterback will be fine.

According to reports, it was an ankle injury scare that forced the dreaded cart to come out for Cook, who played at Missouri from 2020-24 but went undrafted in the spring. The Jets took a chance on Cook by signing the undrafted free agent in May. Tuesday’s injury provided the reality that things can change for players in the preseason at any moment, but Cook and the Jets appeared to have dodged a bullet.

Cook was looked at by team doctors and trainers under a tent after the injury, with the issue being Cook’s right ankle, according to Jets Confidential Magazine:

Here is the video of Cook being carted off the field after the Jets’ joint practice with the New York Giants on Tuesday in Florham Park, N.J.:

Cook is a St. Louis native who helped put Missouri football back on the map the past few seasons. He was the Tigers’ starting QB from 2022-24, finishing his stellar college career in Columbia with 9,008 yards passing, 49 touchdown passes and just 15 interceptions.

But after things didn’t work out for Cook in the draft this spring, he was looking for an NFL home. The Jets provided that home, for now, by signing Cook to a free agent deal. Now, it’s up to Cook to prove he can stick with the Jets and in the NFL, and he’s getting that chance in training camp.

On Tuesday, some grim reality almost hit for Cook, but it appears he’s OK moving forward.
