Miami Dolphins running back De’Von Achane was expected to be the lone bright spot on his team’s offense in 2026. He had struggled to truly get going, averaging just 3.5 yards per carry through two weeks of play. Now, he’s headed to the shelf.
Achane, who left Miami’s Week 3 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs with a knee injury, reportedly tore his ACL, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter. The 2023 third-round pick will miss the remainder of the regular season as a result of the ailment.
Achane, a former Texas A&M Aggie, made his first Pro Bowl in 2025. He turned 238 carries into 1,350 rushing yards and eight touchdowns last year, leading the NFL in yards per carry (5.7). He added 67 receptions, 488 yards and four touchdowns as a receiver, demonstrating dual-threat talent that makes him one of the best offensive weapons in the league.
Miami (0-3) turned to former Oklahoma State rusher Ollie Gordon in Achane’s absence. The 2025 sixth-round pick ran for 41 yards and a touchdown against the Chiefs and projects to split touches with Jaylen Wright — who missed the game due to injury — going forward. The Dolphins battle the undefeated Minnesota Vikings in Week 4.
