Former Alabama RB reportedly waived by New England Patriots

The dark side of the NFL offseason has commenced, as teams across the league are having to make roster cuts in order to fit requirements and balance their depth charts ahead of Week 1.
This means that for many athletes, the dream of playing in the NFL will be brought to an abrupt halt, at least for a period of time.
And one former Alabama running back is experiencing some of the harshest effects of this time period, as New England Patriots rookie Jam Miller has been waived by the team according to CBS Sports’ Matt Zenitz.

The Patriots used their seventh-round selection in 2026 draft to land Miller, but a recent minor injury derailed their plans for him to be the third running back on the depth chart.
In limited preseason action, Miller carried the ball 11 times for 36 yards.
This all comes after the Tyler, Texas, native showed flashes of great ability throughout his college career but was held back by Alabama’s lack of run-blocking success. Over a 4-year career with the Crimson Tide, Miller accounted for 1,596 rushing yards on 349 carries, with him having found the end zone 40 times via the ground.
It remains to be seen if Miller will be picked up by another team, otherwise he may have to pursue other professional football avenues or wait until next season to tryout again.
