CJ Gardner-Johnson did the most disrespectful thing a person can do to another person, whether on the football field or not.
In this case, the Buffalo Bills safety and former Florida star spit in the direction of Las Vegas Raiders tight end and former Georgia standout Brock Bowers during Sunday’s game.
The incident happened during the first half of Sunday’s game in Las Vegas, and it just so happen to involve players from SEC rival programs. Gardner-Johnson, who played at Florida between 2016-18, was ejected from the game.
CBS cameras caught Gardner-Johnson in the act and replayed the spitting incident on the telecast, with the announcers wondering if Gardner-Johnson would be further disciplined for doing that beyond just getting kicked out of Sunday’s game.
Here is the video of the spitting incident, with it occurring between plays:
Bowers was a star tight end at Georgia from 2021-23, helping the Bulldogs to back-to-back national championships in 2021 and 2022. He was also a 2-time John Mackey Award winner, capturing the honor given to college football’s top tight end in 2022 and 2023.
He was also a first-team All-SEC player during all 3 of his seasons in Athens and was also an All-American pick during all 3 of those seasons.
Bowers has been a star in the NFL, too, making the Pro Bowl for the Raiders in each of his first 2 seasons in Las Vegas.
The battle is on for playoff spots come January, and here is what the Kalshi market is currently saying about the odds to make the playoffs for a shot at the Super Bowl title in February:
