A former Florida Gators standout is on the move once again at the NFL level, as reports have surfaced that the Baltimore Ravens are releasing defensive back CJ Gardner-Johnson.

According to senior NFL insider for ESPN Adam Schefter, the Ravens and Gardner-Johnson’s agent have come to an “amicable mutual decision” to part ways that would allow the seventh-year safety to pursue a clearer path to playing time.

This marks the second time in the past few weeks that Gardner-Johnson has been released by an NFL team, as he was also let go by the Houston Texans after just 3 games with them.

The Texans decided to part ways with the veteran after there was some reported friction between him and the coaching staff regarding the role he was playing in the Houston defense.

The Ravens signed Gardner-Johnson to their practice squad shortly after he departed from the Texans, and now he’ll be looking to join his third NFL squad in less than a month.

It will be interesting to see whether or not the Super Bowl 59 champion can land with another team following all of his antics over the past few months, and what his role will end up looking like should another team give him a chance.
