Former Florida QB Kyle Trask learns roster fate with Carolina Panthers

Former Florida QB Kyle Trask is reportedly part of the Carolina Panthers’ roster cuts as teams seek to meet the NFL’s 53-man deadline.
ESPN insider Jeremy Fowler shared the news of Trask’s cut on Sunday via social media. Fowler noted that the Panthers might still seek to keep Trask around as a potential emergency quarterback option, but he won’t be on the active roster.
Panthers are releasing QB Kyle Trask, per source. He acquitted himself well there and is an emergency QB option for the team.

Trask has been in the NFL since 2021. He has been limited, though, to appearing in just 7 regular-season games and throwing only 11 passes.
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers selected Trask in the second round of the 2021 NFL Draft. All 7 pro appearances came with the Bucs from 2022-24.
Trask was released by Tampa Bay a year ago as part of roster cuts. In November, he joined the Atlanta Falcons’ practice squad. He did not make a regular-season appearance in 2025.
The Carolina Panthers signed Trask on Aug. 9. We’ll see what’s next for the 28-year-old former Florida quarterback who led the NCAA with 43 passing touchdowns in the 2020 season.
