The Georgia Bulldogs have put so many elite defensive players into the NFL over the past several years that it’s becoming difficult to keep track of all of them.
It seems like every team in the NFL has at least one former Kirby Smart defensive standout on its roster, and some teams have far more than that.
Former star corner for the Dawgs, Tyson Campbell, is one of these former Smart proteges who has sort of flown under the radar since being drafted by the Jacksonville Jaguars in the second round of the 2021 NFL Draft, and now he’s on the move thanks to a recent trade.
After 5 seasons in Duval, the former 5-star recruit is being sent to the Cleveland Browns in exchange for another promising young corner from the 2021 draft, Greg Newsome.
Jacksonville and Cleveland have also agreed to swap a couple of late-round 2026 draft picks as part of the deal as well, with the Jags receiving a sixth rounder and the Browns getting a seventh.
Campbell was pretty solid during his time in Jacksonville, but never really lived up to the high expectations many had for him when he came into the league.
With a fresh start in Cleveland now on deck, though, Campbell has another opportunity to finally take that next step and become the star corner he was at Georgia once more for the Browns.
