Odell Beckham Jr. making the New York Giants’ initial 53-man roster was quite the accomplishment for the injury-riddled veteran. Unfortunately, his renaissance in the Big Apple was cut short when he was released after three games. However, he’s not yet hanging up the cleats.
According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, the Minnesota Vikings are signing Beckham to their practice squad. Minnesota confirmed the news on Twitter/X.
Beckham saw just one target in three appearances for New York. The Vikings signing him comes after fellow LSU alum Justin Jefferson missed the team’s Week 4 victory against the Miami Dolphins. Jefferson, a two-time first-team All-Pro, made 13 receptions for 179 yards and two touchdowns in three games before hurting his ankle in a win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Jefferson is one of the league’s top wide receivers when healthy. Beckham isn’t that anymore, but he certainly used to be. In his heyday with the Giants, he topped 1,300 receiving yards three times and earned two second-team All-Pro nods. In 2021, he and Cooper Kupp formed a dynamic postseason tandem that helped the Los Angeles Rams win Super Bowl LVI.
Minnesota is Beckham’s sixth team, joining New York, Los Angeles, the Cleveland Browns, Baltimore Ravens and Miami Dolphins.
