Jalen Hurts was already expected to miss the Philadelphia Eagles’ game against the Carolina Panthers on Sunday due to a blood clot issue. Initially, he wasn’t going to be put on the injured reserve as reported earlier on Saturday. However, later in the evening, Adam Schefter reported that the Eagles are indeed going to put Hurts on IR. The former Alabama QB will be out indefinitely.

In the report, the Eagles were doing their due diligence when it came to having conversations with medical experts, and decided after conversations over the last 24 hours that the best move was to put Hurts on the IR.

With Hurts going on the IR, the earliest he can return is in Week 11 after the Eagles’ bye. For blood clots, they are generally treated with anticoagulants, which are also known as blood thinners. According to NFL rules, players aren’t allowed to play on blood thinners.

It is the latest roster issue that the Eagles have had to face. Saquon Barkley is out with an injury, but he is close to coming back. He is out Sunday, but he has a legitimate chance to play next week. Also, cornerstone right tackle Lane Johnson announced he was retiring effective immediately.

With Hurts out, the Eagles are going to start Tanner McKee in his place.
