The NFL never fails to entertain. During Week 3’s Monday Night Football game, we got an NSFW hot mic moment from Detroit Lions wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown. Then, on Thursday Night Football yesterday, Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba kicked off Week 4 in similar (but slightly more family-friendly) fashion.
Early in the 4th quarter of his team’s TNF matchup against the Arizona Cardinals, Smith-Njigba was flagged for holding. To those watching, it quickly became evident that the second-year receiver did not agree with the call.
Here’s a clip from the broadcast:
The penalty wiped out Zach Charbonnet’s 7-yard touchdown run that would have given Seattle a 23-6 lead over Arizona. The Seahawks eventually settled for a field goal to make the score 20-6. From there, the Cardinals stormed back and tied the game 20-20 with 28 seconds remaining in regulation.

But Smith-Njigba righted his wrong with a 22-yard grab on the ensuing Seattle drive to put the team in field goal range. Two plays later, kicker Jason Myers knocked home a 52-yard attempt to seal a 23-20 win.
Smith-Njigba did not record a catch in the first half of Thursday’s game, but made 3 receptions for 69 yards in the 4th quarter. The Seahawks (3-1) host the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (3-0; vs. PHI 9/28) at 4:05 p.m. E.T. on CBS in Week 5 (Oct. 5).
