After Jaxson Dart guided the New York Giants to their first win of the season last weekend, they’re now back in the loss column after falling to the New Orleans Saints 26-14.
The rookie quarterback out of Ole Miss completed 26 of his 40 passes for 202 yards with 2 touchdowns and 2 interceptions.
Dart isn’t using his inexperience as a crutch for his first loss as an NFL starting quarterback. Instead, the 22-year-old is holding himself accountable and wants to learn from this to continue his growth.
“This one is one me…I’m leader of the offense…” Dart said. “I don’t take any excuse for age or being a rookie, there’s a responsibility when you’re quarterback to go win games, that’s just the standard I hold myself to.”
The 6-foot-2 Dart passed for 111 yards with a touchdown and no interceptions last Sunday in the Giants’ 21-18 win against the Los Angeles Chargers.
The Giants selected Dart with the 25th overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. Dart began his college career at USC before transferring to Ole Miss for his final 3 seasons. Dart amassed 11,970 yards with 81 touchdown passes through the air while also rushing for 1,541 yards and 14 scores in his college career.
Dart and the Giants will try to bounce back when they host the defending Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles on Thursday Night Football.
