Joe Burrow becomes the second Bengals quarterback to be selected to be a part of the Pro Bowl.
It was announced on Feb. 1 that Burrow would be added to the AFC roster. The LSU great joins Joe Flacco, who was added to the roster last week, and Shadeur Sanders as the AFC quarterback group. The Bengals are the first team in NFL history to have 2 active Pro Bowl QBs on their roster at the same time.
All three quarterbacks now participating are replacements for the original selections of Josh Allen, Drake Maye, and Justin Herbert.
Burrow missed 9 games after injuring his toe in Week 2 against the Jaguars. The Bengals did escape with a win in Week 2 and were 2-0 to start the season. When Burrow returned 9 games later, the Bengals were 3-8 and had a slim chance of making the playoffs.
In the final 6 games with Burrow, the Bengals went 3-3 and missed the playoffs for the third year in a row.
On the AFC roster alone, there are 15 players either not participating or being replaced on the Pro Bowl roster. This has led to many conversations around the timing of the Pro Bowl, and the existence of the Pro Bowl.
