The Miami Dolphins have a new head coach. Miami announced the hiring of Mike McDaniel on Sunday.

McDaniel, 38, arrives in Miami after 5 seasons in San Francisco. McDaniel was San Francisco’s run game coordinator for 4 seasons (2017-20). Ahead of the 2021 season, he was promoted to offensive coordinator.

McDaniel got his start in football in 2005 as an intern with the Denver Broncos. He left the NFL for 2 seasons (2009-10) as the running backs coach for the Sacramento Mountain Lions of the United Football League. He returned to the NFL as an offensive assistant in Washington in 2011. During his career, he also worked for the Houston Texans, Cleveland Browns and Atlanta Falcons.

Football fans everywhere will be interested to see how Tua Tagovailoa performs in McDaniel’s offense. Jaylen Waddle will be another player to watch. McDaniel isn’t shy about using speedy wide receivers as ball carriers. This season, Deebo Samuel earned first-team All-Pro honors, playing a unique role in McDaniel’s 49ers offense.
