The Philadelphia Eagles are dealing with as many injury issues as any team in the NFL, including at the running back position. Star Saquon Barkley was able to play on Monday Night Football against the Dallas Cowboys, but he is dealing with with injuries to his back and hamstring.
Other running backs such as Will Shipley and Tank Bigsby were already on the IR. During the game on Monday night, former Florida star running back Dameon Pierce got hurt, and the Eagles put him on the IR while bringing in Jaydon Blue to the active roster.
With Barkley dealing with injuries, Pierce had become a focal point of the Eagles’ rushing game. In games against the Jaguars, Panthers, and Cowboys, Pierce had at least 11 rushes in each of those games. However, he was injured during a kick return in the fourth quarter against the Cowboys, and he will now be out for a minimum of four weeks.
Blue was drafted by the Cowboys last year with the 149th pick in the 2025 NFL Draft out of Texas, and he finished with 38 carries for 129 yards and one touchdown, but he became a free agent. He had been on the Eagles’ practice squad and is now a guy who could hear his name called on Sunday against the Washington Commanders.
