Angel Reese and Caitlin Clark have carried their hoops rivalry into the WNBA, where the former LSU and former Iowa stars squared off yet again on Saturday. That matchup pitted the Chicago Sky against the Indiana Fever in the season opener for both teams.

It was a marquee matchup on national television, and it included some drama between the two stars on the court. That drama came when Reese was fouled hard by Clark on a layup attempt, setting off a brief shouting match back and forth before officials intervened.

After the game, Reese was asked about the incident, but she was not in a very talkative mood.

“Basketball play. Refs got it right. Move on,” said Reese through a blank stare.

So, it seems like the incident is water under the bridge. At least, that’s all Reese had to say about the matter.

Clark was even asked about the foul during an in-game interview, and she greatly downplayed the incident. She described it as a good, hard foul and nothing else.

“It’s just a good take foul. Either Angel gets a wide-open 2 points, or we send them to the free-throw line,” said Clark. “Nothing malicious about it, it was just a good take foul, every basketball player knows that.”

While that’s the end of this chapter, the two rivals have 4 more head-to-head matchups in the regular season, so we’ll see if any more drama crops up in the WNBA.
