Kyle Field is usually a tough ticket on Saturdays during the fall, even more so with Texas A&M coming off a first-ever College Football Playoff appearance.
This past Saturday, Kyle Field was rocking once more. Only this time, it had nothing to do with Aggies football.
The wildly popular Savannah Bananas were in town for their first visit to College Station. The team known as the “Harlem Globetrotters of baseball” has filled venues nationwide for their version of America’s pastime called “Banana Ball”.
How much of a big deal was it in Aggieland? A record. Over 102,000 fans were in attendance at Kyle Field, the highest-attended event in Savannah Bananas history. Here’s video of the crowd:
If you’re hoping to catch Banana Ball in your hometown, you may have to turn to the secondary ticket market. The Bananas’ three-game series at Truist Park in Atlanta from May 8-10 is sold out, as are future dates in Savannah, Knoxville, and Tacoma.
In fact, the Bananas may come close to surpassing Saturday’s record crowd on May 23. That’s when they’ll be at Neyland Stadium, with a capacity of 101,915. They’ll make their way to Big Ten country, as well. June 13 brings them to Memorial Stadium in Lincoln. On June 27, they’ll be at Autzen Stadium in Eugene.
