The NFL rumor mill is spinning with all kinds of Julio Jones chatter. There’s a particularly interesting report out of Boston that Jones wants to play with a former rival quarterback.

Michael Holley of NBC Sports Boston shares that Jones wants to play with Cam Newton on the New England Patriots. On “Boston Sports Tonight,” Holley told his colleagues they wouldn’t believe what he had heard.

“Do you know who he really wants to play with? You won’t believe this,” Holley says on the show. “I’m telling you, I heard this today and I said, ‘Are you kidding me?!’

“He wants to play with Cam Newton. He likes Cam.”

The Patriots re-signed Newton but also drafted former Alabama quarterback Mac Jones, so there’s the possibility that Julio Jones could land in New England to end up catching passes from Mac Jones.

If the trade happens, the former 2010 Iron Bowl foes would certainly make an interesting part up in Foxborough. Oddsmakers have also included the Ravens and 49ers among likely destinations for the All-Pro wideout if he is traded.
