Tua Tagovailoa is still injured, and he’ll again be on the Miami Dolphins’ sideline at the start of this week’s game. However, it’s possible he won’t be staying there.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that Jacoby Brissett will start at quarterback for the Dolphins on Thursday night against the Baltimore Ravens, but Tagovailoa will serve as the backup QB. Tagovailoa missed Miami’s win over the Houston Texans this past Sunday due to a fractured left middle finger.

According to NFL Network’s Cameron Wolfe, Brissett received most of the starter reps at practice this week and that the Dolphins were preparing for the former Florida quarterback to be under center again. Brissett passed for 244 yards, 1 touchdown and 2 interceptions against the Texans.

Meanwhile, Tagovailoa is still having trouble with gripping the ball and feeling discomfort, per Wolfe, but Miami is hopeful that the former Alabama QB can start its Week 11 road matchup vs. the New York Jets. He’ll have extra time to rest, as the Dolphins won’t be back in action until Nov. 21. That is, unless they need to call on Tagovailoa to come into the game on Thursday night.

Tagovailoa has been slowed by numerous injuries during his second NFL season. He’s been limited to 5 games, as he previously missed time due to fractured ribs.

Tagovailoa has passed for 1,040 yards, 7 touchdowns and 5 interceptions this year.
