Ryan Day has issued a statement about K’Vaughan Pope’s status with the Ohio State program. It came one day after the linebacker reportedly walked off the sideline during the game against Akron, and then tweeted from the locker room.

The Ohio State coach dismissed Pope from the team, and the program will continue to support him with his progress toward graduation.

Pope has 3 tackles this season, and the veteran contributor came has played in 31 career games and been a key contributor on special teams.

Ohio State led Akron 35-7 near halftime, but according to multiple reporters, Pope went to the locker room, and one reporter even said the linebacker, “just threw his gloves into the crowd after what looked like a heated exchange with Al Washington” an Ohio State assistant. Then, moments later, he published a pair of tweets about the situation, “good lucc to my teammates” and “fucc ohio state.”
