Greg McElroy shared his thoughts on Oklahoma’s 1st loss of the season, a 38-33 defeat at Kansas on Saturday.

McElroy pushed back on the notion that the Sooners had a “lapse in focus” and that they were looking past the Jayhawks, and while they “responded beautifully” despite starting slow, they ultimately couldn’t avoid the upset.

However, McElroy isn’t writing the Sooners off with the 1st College Football Playoff rankings set to be revealed on Tuesday.

“Oklahoma’s in great shape,” he said. “Oklahoma still, as of right now, has the best win among the 1-loss teams, but it’s obviously a little different now with how Oregon played on the road at Utah.”

For the record, Oregon, Texas, Alabama, and Penn State are 6 through 9 in the Top 25, respectively, with Oklahoma sitting at No. 10. However, it will be interesting to see how the CFP committee ranks the teams keeping in mind McElroy’s discussion about Oregon’s blowout win at Utah.

As for the Sooners, they’ll look to avoid a 2nd-straight loss — and falling out of the Playoff picture altogether — as they face Oklahoma State in the latest edition of the Bedlam Series.
