Oklahoma running back Xavier Robinson was set to redshirt this season for the Sooners. The talented RB has played in 4 games, which is the regular-season threshold for redshirt eligibility.

However, with 2 games remaining, Robinson was approached by Brent Venables and DeMarco Murray and asked to play in the team’s final games. Robinson agreed to play and will forego redshirting in 2024.

Through Week 12, Robinson has carried the ball 15 times for 85 yards with 1 TD. The RB has also caught 4 passes for 65 yards, showcasing his ability to help out in both phases.

Robinson was the leading rusher for the Sooners in their last game against Missouri. Oklahoma’s leading rusher, Jovantae Barnes, sprained his ankle against Maine and was unable to play against the former Big 12 rival.

The Oklahoma offense has been disappointing all season. The team benched Jackson Arnold during the Tennessee game and inserted Michael Hawkins Jr. as the starting QB. After a few games, however, the team went back to Arnold, and the offense is still struggling.

Through 12 weeks, Oklahoma has the No. 86 rushing offense, the No. 115 passing offense, and the  No. 117 total offense. The Sooners can still make a bowl game but would have to beat LSU or Alabama to secure eligibility.
