Less than a week after taking a shot at Mario Cristobal and Miami, it seems that Oklahoma head coach Brent Venables is at it again.

This time, his target was a little more in the region. It is just to the west of him in Boulder, Colorado with Deion Sanders.

“You talk about a culture change and resetting of the standard and what expectations are,” Venables said. “I gave guys 12 months of grace, I was unlike Deion, I gave guys 12 months of grace to figure it out. Here’s the 3: Go to class, live right off the field, you show up over here, you show up with respect and appreciation for your opportunity. And if you go 0-for-3 for 12 months you need a fresh start.”

According to 247Sports, Oklahoma has taken in 17 transfer commitments for the 2023 cycle after 25 players either transferred in or out of the Sooners program in 2022.

Last week at Big 12 Media Days, Venables took the chance to take a shot at Miami.

“6-7, none of it’s any good, right?” Venables said during an interview with SiriusXM, referring to his record. “But had we gotten blown out by a Middle Tennessee, had we gotten beat by Florida State 45-3, the conversation is probably a little different.”

Needless to say, it sounds like Venables is not afraid to speak his mind about other programs. Maybe one could think he feels really good about his 2023 team?
